Humble, Hungry, Here
Craig Eakright
Noah, Job, Abraham, Joseph, Moses, Joshua, Deborah, Gideon, Ruth, Hannah, Samuel, David, Solomon, Isaiah, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego—this list is just a sampling of OT characters through whom God was able to do amazing things! What do each of these characters have in common? Maybe a better question to ask is this: What character qualities, when they exist in a mortal, seem to make it easy for the Immortal to move? We believe there are at least three qualities that Scripture not only demonstrates, but also speaks directly about. When a person has these qualities and chooses to engage them, things go right. When a person chooses the opposite, everything goes wrong. These desired qualities are humility (Luke 14:11), hunger (Matthew 5:6), and a desire accompanied with an ability to be present–with God and with others, in any situation (John 10:27). We will address each of these in a later post, but for now, another question: To what extent are these traits evident in you?
