Finding God in the Busy

What a week.

With finals, Christmas, and the New Year just around the corner, life has been crazy busy for most, if not all of us. Something I've been learning recently: no matter what season you're in, most of the time,

life isn't ever really going to slow down.

That's why it's important to plan for times of community, rest, and looking at God. It can be tempting to be swept up in our culture of heavy work and zero time to pause and reflect, and I know it can be easy to put things off until after this or that, but that's where we get into trouble.

This has been a major theme in our Sons and Daughters family, and I bet we're not the only ones who begin and end our days exhausted, and find that we forgot to talk to God through it all.

So what, then, can we do?

I believe planning is the key. It's all about balancing discipline and grace.

We have to begin to intentionally schedule God in our days.

Plan times to pause and meet with Him. Through that time, we will begin to find our rest, and that's when we find that everything seems to be a little less chaotic.

We are just beginning to tap into this realization with S&Ds, meeting once a week and talking about how we can better shape our lives around our Father.

"This year has been pretty hectic trying to juggle my busy schedule, but my organization has benefitted greatly from the weekly checkups in my Sons and Daughters huddle."  -Conner Mullett

We still fail, all the time, and we will never master it, but we will pursue these disciplines until we get just a little bit closer, because He is so worth it.
